about

The ingenious complexity of the hermit-composer Conlon Nancarrow in his Studies for Player Piano, activates several melodies at simultaneously different speeds. Nancarrow was deeply influenced by Bach, Stravinsky and by jazz artists Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith and by his study of music from India and Africa. His music has been one of the most pivotal achievements in music’s last century but his compositions are conceived to be played by a machine, most of them are unreachable for human beings! Nevertheless I’ve recorded Study No. 17, a canon with the ratio 12:15:20, on three accordion tracks.
